God began moving me toward my passion for music when I first started singing
sitting on a high stool with my mother at the tender age of four. From those
early days of singing in church a passion for praise began to burn. I don't ever
recall a time our home wasn't filled with some sort of music. I am blessed to
have a heritage of those before me that shared their love of music from one
generation to the next. I was captured by music from that point and was prompted
by those around me to take piano and vocal lessons.
By the time I was in high school the focus of my music had been defined. I
wanted to use my voice to praise and worship Him. I took any opportunity offered
that would give me more experience as a Christian musician from singing in a
choir, acting in a musical, and leading the teen music program. It was during
this time that I set my pen to paper and started writing my own songs. My
sister, Beth monk, is gifted with lyrical talent and most of the songs that I
perform are originals that she and I co-write. When her schedule allows it she
often performs with me providing background and harmony vocals. It is always an
extra treat for the audience when she can come along.
My heart is to use the gifts that God has given me to glorify Him and to lead others to the throne of God in worship.
